Meet your mentor
Arthur Bozonnet

Arthur is a French-born artist now living in Japan. His calling was found in the world of art, where he spent years as an illustrator for Activision Blizzard’s Hearthstone. In November 2023, Arthur joined the Mooncolony team as an Art Director. When he's not creating beautiful pieces of art, he leads concept art mentorships for Lunar Academy.

Create refined concept art utilizing professional studio practices in this exclusive 7-week one-to-one mentorship.

This mentorship is for intermediate to advanced-level artists who hold a solid understanding of the basics and want to take their concept art skills to the next level with a professional studio-style experience. All of our mentorships have been developed around Mooncolony’s process as a studio, following the structure of real-life client projects. By the end of the mentorship, you will have a polished concept art piece to add to your portfolio in addition to a better understanding of what it takes to work in a premium art studio like Mooncolony.

Depending on your skill set, you may cover various aspects of concept art, including anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition, digital painting, character design and storytelling.

This is your opportunity to get the ultimate customized learning experience with direct access to an industry expert. Each week, your mentor will assess and help develop your concept art skills in relation to your personal goals, positioning yourself for creative and professional success. Get guidance, receive feedback, ask questions and gain life-long skills that will push your abilities in concept art.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is each mentorship?

Lunar Academy mentorships typically last 7 weeks, but this number may vary. Information on mentorship length and details on what will be covered each week is provided on each mentorship’s information page.

How much do the mentorships cost?

Each mentorship is $1299.

Am I guaranteed a specific mentor?

All mentorships are assigned to a specific mentor. The mentor’s name is specified on each mentorship’s information page. Please check you have selected the correct mentorship with your desired mentor before applying and purchasing.

The only reason for a mentor's unavailability post-purchase is unplanned absences such as sickness or holidays.

Lunar Academy mentors work on rotation, so future mentors are subject to change based on availability and subject matter. You are not guaranteed a specific mentor in the future.

Are mentorships remote or in-person?

All of our mentorships are 100% remote. We use Discord and Google Chats to keep in touch.

How many other mentees are in each mentorship?

There are usually 4-6 people in each mentorship, but this can vary.
We keep our mentee group sizes small to guarantee the best learning experience possible. Therefore, spaces on this course are limited. Apply early to avoid disappointment.

Are there opportunities for mentorship alumni to stay connected with the community or network?

All Lunar Academy mentorship alumni gain access to a private space on Mooncolony’s Discord server [link to Discord] to connect with fellow artists. You can also stay in touch via Mooncolony and Lunar Academy’s social networks.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes! We offer 3x $433 monthly payments

What happens if I can’t make or miss a mentorship session?

If you can let us know 48 hours in advance then we can reschedule this for you.

Are there opportunities for feedback and critique outside of scheduled sessions?

Yes - our Discord channel is a wonderful place to engage on the work of others.

Is there a portfolio review process involved in the mentorship?

Yes, mentors will touch on this. However for an in-depth portfolio review we recommend booking one of these separately on our website.

What software and tools are required?

You will need access to a graphics/display tablet in addition to digital drawing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate or Clip Studio Paint.

Are the mentorship sessions one-to-one or group sessions?

Mentorships are run primarily in a one-to-one format. However, there are opportunities for group calls at the beginning and end of the mentorship. You are given access to a private space to discuss your mentorship with your fellow mentees on Mooncolony’s Discord server.
